I have a prospective tenant that would like to store fire-arms in his space. I am reluctant to sign a lease because I do not have enough information about North Carolina law in regard to this. Our current lease does not specify. Can you direct me to resource or precedent for storing fire-arms in a self-storage space? I do not want my facility to be at risk or liable for doing so.

If you are like most facilities, you already have fire-arms stored in some of your units. Most people don't tell you ahead of time for such items. But since they've told you, follow Kevin's advice.

If you are using the NCSSA lease point 35. states what can NOT be stored. It specifically says ammunition and prohibited weapons under NC law can NOT be stored. This absolves then that any legal firearms CAN be stored.
